Primary

Duties

• Individual will be a member of a research team in Billings, Montana performing hydrogeologic evaluations, primarily on coalbed methane development in southeastern Montana.

• Individual will be expected to write proposals, develop projects, publish results of research and make presentations at scientific conferences.

• Familiarity with coalbed methane, coal hydrogeology and southeastern Montana is desirable.

• Individual will work in coalbed methane fields, coal mines and other sites.

• Individual will be responsible for evaluating ground-water impacts of coalbed-methane infiltration ponds and will help develop and maintain a regional ground-water monitoring program and write interpretive reports based on those data.

• Evaluations will include water quantity and water quality of ground-water systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Education Required

• Doctorate in hydrogeology or related field,

• or Master of Science in hydrogeology or related field with 3 years of experience collecting and interpreting data to evaluate ground-water quantity and quality, geologic controls on ground-water systems and surface-water/ground-water interaction;

• Excellent writing skills;

• Proven record of scientific publications:

• Ability to work well with public and private groups;

• Excellent computer skills;

• Able to perform independent field work, including aquifer testing and water sampling, operating field instruments and equipment.

Preferred Education & Experience

• Eight years or more of experience;

• Experience supervising drilling and installation of monitoring wells;

• Previous project management experience.
